God is doing a new thing in our little neighborhood of Cordata. Matthew 14 tells a story of an event that went from ordinary to extraordinary. In the midst of a small storm on a small sea, the disciples strained to get their oars to move their boat against the wind. They were stuck, they were worn out, and they were without Jesus. “Take courage,” Jesus told them. “It is I.” At Peter’s request to make sure it really was Jesus (who else could probably walk on water??), Jesus says, “Come.”

Jesus is saying to come. Step out of your boat and come to me. Step out of your comfort zone, Mr. Fisherman. Come to me and I’ll help you fish for people.

God
is doing a new thing in our little neighborhood of Cordata. The original team who stepped out in faith and built this church building and saw its potential dreamed of a moment such as this. A moment where, as small a crew we may be, Jesus is saying “Come.” Maybe life is too stormy right now, maybe we’re straining against the wind, or maybe we’re just worn out. If you’re feeling like you’re on empty, well then there’s good news! Some of your best ministry will come when you are on empty! Because when you have nothing to give, then you can know that all of it will be God.

God is doing a new thing in our little neighborhood of Cordata. Will you be a part of it? God’s Kingdom has never been built by perfect people, but by ordinary people who allow God to do extraordinary things. Will you be part of it?

Our Cordata Neighborhood Block Party will be on Sunday, August 22 from noon until 2pm. We are inviting our neighbors, Birchwood Christian School and Kids Camp families, and the Cordata Neighborhood Association to come and celebrate being able to gather together again. Will you be an Ambassador for the Kingdom of Christ to share the Light, the Joy, and the Hope of Jesus?

We are calling for Prayer Ambassadors to walk our grounds and the neighborhood leading up to the 22nd for what God might do through this event.

We are calling for Welcoming Ambassadors whose warm smiles will greet and direct our hundreds of invitees into the Block Party and thank them for coming when they head out.

We are calling for Table Ambassadors who will position themselves at an empty table and invite guests to sit and talk with them.

We are calling for Square Feet Ambassadors who will stand in strategically and divinely situated areas covering every square foot of the parking lot to invite families with children to our last Fun in the Sunday on August 25th and our Blessing of the Backpacks on August 29th.

Lastly, we are calling for Crew Ambassadors who can help with food prep/serving, setting up tables and games, or cleaning up after the party.

Mark Sunday, August 15th down in your calendar and plan to come to the Chapel before or after the Worship Service to get prepared, encouraged, and equipped for this Summer classic. God is looking for ordinary people so that He can do an extraordinary thing… Why not you? And why not us?
